AML/BSA Compliance

AML/BSA COMPLIANCE SUPPORT

In 1970, the U.S. Congress passed the Bank Secrecy Act (BSA)—also known as the Anti-Money Laundering (AML) law.   As a result, financial institutions have been required to cooperate with government agencies to detect and prevent money laundering.  This has imposed an important obligations on financial institutions to comply with these vital regulations.  Failure to do so, not only assists in the criminal laundering of funds, it exposes financial institutions to potentially excessive government fines.

Since the majority of our professional’s network members are retired and former federal financial crime investigators, our experience in the area of AML/BSA Compliance support is extensive.  Our team has been involved in some of the most high-profile and complex financial, high-technology, narcotics and counter-terrorism investigations throughout their distinctive careers.  We have the experience and credentials that you deserve.  The majority of our investigators have assisted in complex federal grand jury investigations.  Because these cases were high-profile and sensitive, a large portion of them required Top Secret Clearances.  So you can rest assured, that at SFI, we not only have the expertise, we have the impeccable backgrounds needed for the handling of sensitive customer financial data.

Financial institutions are required to implement superior reporting and record-keeping capabilities to ensure the appropriate information is being collected for all transactions.  BSA/AML regulations require financial institutions to keep records of cash purchases of negotiable instruments; file reports of cash transactions above $10,000; report suspicious activity that might signify money laundering, tax evasion or other criminal activities.

As former financial crime investigators, we are acutely aware of the importance of this information in combating money laundering.  We have directly witnessed how this information has proved vital in generating case leads or providing critical case evidence.  So assisting financial institutions with proper AML/BSA Compliance is of two-fold importance to us.  We want to assist financial institutions in the proper government compliance, as well as help them with properly preparing information that could potentially be of importance to law enforcement
